Gun Safety Saves Lives
According to the Gun Violence Archive (GNV), more than 1,500 unintentional shootings took place in the United States in 2023. Many of the shootings involved teens between the ages of 14 to 17 and children under the age of 5, who are Black. Law enforcement officials say a lot of the shootings happened because a child found an unlocked, loaded gun and pulled the trigger injuring themselves or someone else. Had the weapon been locked and securely stored, the resulting injury to a person or loss of life could have been prevented. Lock It and Store It! A BIN Gun Safety Awareness Campaign, aims to encourage gun owners to keep guns out of the reach of children to help save their lives.'
