World Leaders React To Donald Trump Winning Presidential Election

World leaders are reacting to Donald Trump winning his bid to return to the White House.

The Republican nominee was projected as the winner of the 2024 presidential election in the early hours of Wednesday (November 6), per the Associated Press. Projected wins in key swing states like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin secured Trump the 270 electoral votes needed to serve a second term.

While speaking in West Palm Beach, Florida, Trump said he would bring a "golden age" to the U.S., calling his campaign “the greatest political movement of all time”.

“Congratulations on history’s greatest comeback! Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America. This is a huge victory! In true friendship,” Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote on X.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of Qatar, said in a statement that he was looking forward to working with Trump “in promoting security and stability both in the region and globally”.

“I wish him all the success … and I look forward to reaching peace together, upholding regional stability and strengthening the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States and their friendly peoples,” Egypt President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said on X.

Hamas said in a statement: “Our position on the new US administration depends on its positions and practical behavior towards our Palestinian people, their legitimate rights, and their just cause." The president must “listen to the voices of the American community itself rejecting the aggression on Gaza."

“We are confident that the United States will support, under your leadership, the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people,” Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas said in a statement.

“Our policy towards the US is consistent,” China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Mao Ning said in a statement.

“We will continue to view and handle China-US relations in accordance with the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation,” she added.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on X: “I appreciate President Trump’s commitment to the ‘peace through strength’ approach in global affairs. This is exactly the principle that can practically bring just peace in Ukraine closer.”

“We look forward to an era of a strong United States of America under President Trump’s decisive leadership. We rely on continued strong bipartisan support for Ukraine in the United States.”

In a statement, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he was unaware of plans for Russian President Vladimir Putin to congratulate Trump since the US is an “unfriendly country”.

“We will draw conclusions based on concrete steps and concrete words,” Peskov said.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said: “Congratulations President-elect Trump on your historic election victory. I look forward to working with you in the years ahead. As the closest of allies, we stand shoulder to shoulder in defence of our shared values of freedom, democracy and enterprise.”

“I know President Trump and I will work together to create more opportunity, prosperity, and security for both of our nations,” Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on X.

“Congratulations on your formidable electoral victory,” Argentina President Javier Milei said on X. “Now, Make America Great Again. You know that You can count on Argentina to carry out your task.”

French President Emmanuel Macron wrote on X: “Congratulations, President Donald Trump. Ready to work together just as we knew how to do during four years. With your convictions and with mine. With respect and ambition. For more peace and prosperity.”

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol congratulated Trump on X, saying “under your strong leadership, the future of the ROK-U.S. alliance and America will shine brighter. Look forward to working closely with you."

“Congratulations to President-elect Donald Trump on his historic victory for a second term! I look forward to working closely with the incoming Administration to further strengthen and broaden the Pakistan-U.S. partnership,” Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif tweeted.

“Congratulations to President Donald Trump on your election victory and comeback. I look forward to working together to further strengthen the relationship between our two countries during your term,” Ethiopia Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed wrote on X.

“I congratulate Donald Trump on his victory in the US presidential election and the people of the United States for strengthening democracy. We will continue to work together on migration, security, and international trade,” Panama President Jose Raul Mulino wrote on X.
