Former President and Republican nominee Donald Trump has won his bid for reelection.

On Wednesday (November 6), Trump won the 2024 presidential election, defeating Democratic nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris, after clinching battleground states North Carolina, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.

Trump's win comes after a historic shift in the presidential race that saw President Joe Biden dropping out in June and Harris quickly taking over as the Democratic candidate.

The former president, who held office from 2016 to 2020, ran another controversy-filled campaign. Earlier this year, a New York jury unanimously found Trump guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records related to hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels amid the 2016 election. A felony conviction is unprecedented for a U.S. president.

During the first presidential debate, Trump garnered backlash for claiming that millions of people crossing the border are taking "Black jobs." In July, Trump was shot at while appearing at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennslyvania.

Trump's second debate found the former president touting false claims about Haitian immigrants eating and abducting pets in Springfield, Ohio, misinformation also spread by his running mate, JD Vance.

The GOP candidate also faced backlash over a comedian who appeared at his Madison Square Garden rally and made racist jokes about Puerto Rico and Black people.

As for what's to come during his presidency, Trump previously said he has "concepts of plan" for healthcare.

Though Trump's campaign has attempted to distance itself from Project 2025, the Republican nominee has been linked to the 920-page document filled with extremist and conservative policies and plans for his second term. Some of those plans include undermining reproductive rights, voting access, criminal justice reform, educational equity, and more.

Trump has also previously said he would allow figures like Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who once compared vaccine requirements to the Nazi Germany era, to "go wild" on the health safety system and let Elon Musk "start from scratch" with the federal workforce.
