(Miami, FL) - The National Hurricane Center is flagging its first area of concern this Atlantic Hurricane Season. The NHC highlighting an area of disturbance that could form over the Bay of Campeche later this week.
As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, forecasters give it a 10-percent chance of formation before it moves inland over eastern Mexico over the weekend.
The system is not expected to threaten the U.S. Gulf Coast or Florida and the NHC calls it insignificant overall in line with NOAA's below-normal forecast.
