Donald Trump Jr. has admitted that President Donald Trump has fundamentally reshaped the GOP, declaring, "This isn't the Republican Party anymore."
On Sunday (December 21), Trump Jr. appeared at Turning Point USA's America Fest conference in Phoenix, where he took aim at Democrats and Republicans he labeled "RINOs," or Republicans by name only, who he accused of undermining the MAGA movement.
“Midterms are coming around the corner, and make no mistake, the Democrat Party wants to do whatever they possibly can to shut this movement down,” he said. “Not just the Democrats. The RINOs.”
Trump Jr. argued that criticism directed at Vice President J.D. Vance, himself, and the president reflects resistance to the party’s transformation.
“Anyone who understands that this isn’t the Republican Party anymore,” he said, adding, “It’s the ‘America First’ Party. It’s the ‘Make America Great Again’ Party. And we are not going back!”
As the crowd applauded, Trump Jr. suggested that anyone not joining in chants of “USA” wasn't a genuine Republican.
“If someone wasn’t chanting ‘USA’ next to you, you know they’re a Democrat plant,” he said. “It’s like pouring holy water on a vampire.”
During the speech, Trump Jr. also called the president, who joked about his son’s performance.
“I hope my son’s doing a good job representing me — otherwise, I’ll have to say, ‘You’re fired, Don,’” Trump said, referencing his former reality show The Apprentice.
AmericaFest, which drew more than 30,000 attendees, was the first conference held since the September assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. The event served as a tribute to Kirk and featured speakers including his widow, Erika Kirk, Tucker Carlson, and Ben Shapiro.
Nicki Minaj also made a surprise appearance, during which she praised Trump and Vance while criticizing California Governor Gavin Newsom.
