A Minneapolis man is facing murder charges after he allegedly stabbed his roommate to death over $15.

According to PEOPLE, 21-year-old Sincir Malik Porter was charged with second-degree murder in the death of his roommate, Abdirahman Adan, 25, on Sunday (July 6).

Police responded to their Minneapolis apartment, where they immediately found "a large amount of blood on the floor and walls in the living room" and a knife with blood on the blade at the front of the residence. Abdirahman was stabbed in the neck and taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Surveillance footage from the apartment showed the pair "arguing over $15" as Porter held a knife. Porter appeared to switch hands before stabbing his roommate once. "[Abdirahman] appeared to get into a fighting stance before he realized he had been stabbed and collapsed to the ground," Minneapolis police said.

Porter fled the scene, but was later tracked down by police in another part of the neighborhood.

"Yeah, you got me," he reportedly told the officers.

Porter also admitted to the stabbing, saying "he had thought about killing [Abdirahman] and his other roommates in the past." "[Porter] stated that the roommates were lucky they didn't get in the way," police added.

Porter is currently in custody at Hennepin County Jail, where he is being held on $1 million bond.
