Jackson State head football coach Deion Sanders is prohibiting his players from leaving their hotel in Houston following the shooting death of rapper Takeoff, WAPT reports.

As JSU gears up to take on Texas Southern University this weekend, Sanders told his players on Tuesday (November 1) that they will not be allowed to roam Houston in their off-time after the Migos rapper was fatally shot.

"The people who are influential to you are leaving us consistently," Coach Prime said, per a YouTube video. "Takeoff was murdered in a dice game in Houston, where we're going. So, that eliminates all y'all leaving that hotel because it ain't happening."

Takeoff, who was a part of the rap trio along with Quavo and Offset, was shot and killed outside of a Houston bowling alley early Tuesday, according to his representative. He was 28 years old.

Sanders told his team that they are going to have to make changes in their life as they grow as players and men.

"You cannot kick it with the same dudes you kicked it with. You cannot kick it with the multitude of women you're kicking it with," Sanders said. "You're going to have to change if you expect change."

Takeoff is one among of string of young rappers who have recently lost their lives due to gun violence, including PnB Rock, Trouble, and more.
