Jamaica is headed to the Winter Olympics!

For the first time in 24 years, the island nation will compete in the four-man bobsled event and is all set to travel to Beijing, China next month to compete on the world stage.

Team Jamaica qualified for the spot Monday (January 17) and will be apart of the 28 other 4-man bobsled teams taking part in the games.

"BREAKING!!! JAMAICA, WE HAVE A BOBSLED TEAM HEADING TO BEIJING 📣📣 📣 " the caption reads. "It will be one fire as Team Jamaica 🇯🇲 secured their spot at the 2022 Beijing #WinterOlympics."

Jamaica's feat of sending a bobsled team to the 1988 winter games in Calgary, Alberta was the subject of the popular 1993 film, Cool Runnings. The last time the island competed in the cold sport games was at the 1998 Games in Nagano, Japan.

Jamaica also made history this year after qualifying for three different bobsled events for the first time: the four-man, the two-man, and the new women's monobob event, NBC News reported. Team Jamaica could also compete in the two-woman bobsled event if a qualifying team drops out.

The official roster for the bobsled event hasn't been released, but Shanwayne Stephens is expected to pilot, along with push athletes Matthew Wekpe, Ashley Watson, and Rolando Reid.

Chris Stokes, a member of the famous original four-man team from 1988, is now the president of Jamaica's bobsled federation.
